In southern Bavaria are the castles of King Ludwig. The white castle was the inspiration for Walt Disney's castle and was Ludwig's homage to the works of Wagner (though it was never completed). The other castle was the one of his parents and where he spent time as a child. Nearby is the charming little town of Fussen and a little further away is Kempten, also a nice little town with a small but interesting Christmas market.
