Rothenberg ob der Tauber is one of those towns that just seems like the stereotype of the German medieval town. Which is probably why it has become so touristy. The architecture is great but the atmosphere is Disney. The stores (of which there are plenty) all seem to specialize in some item that they think tourists expect from Germany (this is the only place I've seen stores heavily advertising Birkenstocks). Still, it was a neat town and I look forward to going back someday to visit more towns on Germany's "Castle Route."
